Four fabulous pieces by Marguerite Stix, three small shell boxes, and one a ring, all from the same Private Collection. Stix Collectors include Jackie Onassis, Scassi, and Halston. Fleeing Vienna and the Nazis in 1938, Stix went to Paris where she designed buttons and pins for Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Patou. Stix made her way to the US in 1941 and sculpted in stone and metal, eventually exhibiting at the Krasner gallery in New York. She and her husband collected shells, amassing a legendary collection and she used gold to create shell jewelry unlike any found elsewhere. These are mostly signed Marguerite Stix, with the original red leather Stix box. We hope to sell all four pieces together.
