About Patek Philippe

About Patek Philippe

Patek Philippe was founded in 1839 by two Polish nationals, Antoine Norbert de Patek and Francois Czapek as Patek, Czapek & Co. In 1845, Patek joined forces with French watchmaker, Adrien Philippe. A great innovator, Philippe invented the modern stem-winding
and setting mechanism for watches. The firm then developed the first keyless watch, one of the early versions of which was purchased by Queen Victoria at the world’s first international trade fair – the Great Exhibition of 1851. The company went on to create an
array of extremely complicated watches. Today, the company is run by the Stern family and is represented by about 350 watchmakers and jewelers worldwide.
